WHITE GOLD
RECORDS
White Gold Records was a DIY label. White Gold were a
band from the Bramley / Guildford area. They appear to have put out just
the one record on their own label, a single featuring 'Bramley Hustle' b/w
'Dreams', which came out in 1979 and had a catalogue number of IOU-100. A
review in the local Punk fanzine 'Barbed Wire' described the band as 'A young
local Funk band producing basically Disco music' and said that 'Bramley Hustle'
was a commercial track with a 'tremendous party feeling'. 'Dreams',
according to the magazine, was a ballad and had 'Some very tasteful instrumental
passages that build into a cutting Reggae finale'. The review has 'Five
Star Funk' after the titles and band name; this may be either a description of
the music or an alternative name for the record label. Distributed By
White Gold Records. Thanks to Robert Lyons For The Info.
