TRANS UNIVERSAL
RECORDS
Independent Reggae label: Trans
Universal Records was owned by Russell Coke, who had previously been
owner of the Magnet Records group - not the well-known Pop / Rock Magnet
company, the Reggae one. Trans Universal issued at least eight singles
during the period 1978-81. Most of them appeared in 12" format but there
were a couple of 7" releases, both of them by Carl St.Clair. Initially 7"s
were numbered in the TU-000s, with albums and 12" singles sharing a TUR-000
series, but the 12" singles took over the 'TU' prefix from TU-006 onwards.
The labels appeared both in red and in green. The material on Trans
Universal tended to be of a religious nature. Distributed By Trans
Universal Records. Thanks to Robert Lyons For The
Info.
