least one single. It issued singles in an CIBA
LABORATORIES-1000 numerical series. Distributed By Thames Television
Records. The World at War was commissioned by Thames Television in 1969. Such
was the extent of its research, it took four years to produce at a cost of
£900,000 (equivalent to £13,359,050 in 2015). At the time this was a record for
a British television series. It was first shown in 1973 on ITV. It was produced
by Jeremy Isaacs, narrated by Laurence Olivier and included music composed by
Carl Davis. The book The World at War written by Mark Arnold-Forster to
accompany the TV series was released in 1973.
