SOLID SOUND
RECORDS
Independent Reggae label: Solid Sound Records was owned by
Count Shelly and handled by Third World. Solid Sound managed at least a
couple of seven-inch singles, both of them in 1977; numbering was in an SS-000
series. First out of the blocks was 'Love' by The Main Attractions
(SS-001); second - and last, was Frankie J. & The Aggrovators' 'Ghetto
Feelings' (SS-002). SS-003, 'Don't Walk Away' by TMT came out in 1979 and
appears to have been twelve-inch only, as does Hopeton Junior's 'Whip Down
Wicked Man' (SSD-001). The last two had black labels with the company's
name in a different type of font. Distributed By Third World Records. Solid
