RECORDS
Sofa Records was a DIY label. It managed one singles.
And one of hundreds of Punk and New Wave bands which started-up labels as
an outlet for their music. Sofa belonged to The Shapes, from
Leamington. It ran to at least two Shapes records: the 'Wots For
Lunch Mum' EP (SEAT-1) in 1979, and 'Blast Off' (SEAT-2) in 1980. The
second of these was picked up for reissue by Northern Ireland label Good
Vibrations. Another EP, 'Cocktails At Six', by Flackoff (SEAT-003),
followed in 1982. Distributed By Sofa Records. The Shapes were an English
punk rock group that formed in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire formed in 1976. The
band was formed by Seymour Bybuss (Ben Browton, vocals) and Brian Helicopter
(Gareth Holder, bass guitar), who recruited Nigel Greenway (guitar), Nick Hadley
(guitar), and Charlie Pullen (drums). Flackoff line up was Rod Goodwin - Bass
& Vocals Claire Ellis(later Panter) - Vocals Arthur Jackson - Guitar Rick
