Independent Rockabilly label: Rollin' Rock Records singles have 'Distributed in U.K. by Rollin' Rock U.K.' on them, and others have 'Imported in Great Britain by Rollin' Rock U.K.'; the company had a British arm (set up in May 1977. Rollin' Rock was, and still is, an American 'Rockabilly' label, based in California. It started life as a magazine for enthusiasts of the genre. Letters from readers asking where they could get hold of old records prompted boss Ronny Weiser to lease some rare sides by Jim Patton and make them available on his own label; and Rollin' Rock Records was born. Since the release of its first single, in 1972, it has not only made new recordings of heroes of the genre such as Ray Campi and Charlie Feathers, it has fostered new talent in that area of music. There was a revival of interest in Rock 'n' Roll in Britain in the late '70s, and following a 1977 Rollin' Rock tour featuring Ray Campi and Mac Curtis some Rollin' Rock products were licensed to Radar Records. Rollin' Rock records had a series of official pressed-in-Britain releases in the early '80s, via Rondelet Records, of Mansfield Woodhouse; they were numbered in the ROUND-1000s.
