QUEST
RECORDS
Independent label: Quest Records was The label of Quest
Studios of Luton. Quest seems to been a custom recording
concern. Catalogue numbers seem to be divided into two separate
blocks. Initially they seem to have been in the PPS-000s, reaching at
least PPS-009 in 1977. Then from 1979 came a BRS-000 series. Not all
of the records came out on the actual Quest label. Those which I have
managed to trace are shown in the partial discography, below; as can be seen,
there are a lot of gaps. There are some interesting items: from the first
block, 'Don't Wanna Fight' by Andy Watts & Cobra seems to go for reasonable
prices, while first out of the BRS-000s was 'Working For The Corporation' by
Tins (BRS-001), which has been described as 'Clash-style Reggae'.
Collectors of NWOBHM might be interested in the singles by Clientele and by Toad
The Wet Sprocket. The latter came out on the Sprockets label, while
BRS-002 was a Various Punk Artists EP on the Pink label. Distributed By
Quest Records. Thanks to Robert Lyons For The Info.
