PACIFIC ARTS
RECORDS
Independent American label: Pacific Arts Corporation Records
was owned by ex-Monkee Michael Nesmith. It seems to have concentrated
its efforts on the USA; very few items came out on its label over here, though
more were licensed by other companies and thus appeared on other labels.
Those singles which were released on Pacific Arts in Britain shared a WIP-6000
catalogue series with Island, the company which was responsible for their
manufacture and distribution; the sole EP borrowed an Island 'IEP' number.
Mike Nesmith's 'Rio' (WIP-6373; 2/77) just about got into the Top 30, an
achievement which his 'Navajo Trail' (WIP-6398; 7/77) failed to
match. Distributed By Island Records. Robert Michael Nesmith (born
December 30, in Houston, Texas in 1942) is an American musician, songwriter,
actor, producer, novelist, businessman, and philanthropist, best known as a
member of the pop rock band the Monkees and co-star of the TV series The Monkees
(1966–1968). Thanks to Robert Lyons For The Info.
