Independent Reggae label: Opal Records formed in 1975, issued at least ten singles in 1975-76, in a PAL-0 series. Marketing was by NEMS, pressing and distribution by CBS. The label enjoyed Chart success in 1976 with Pluto Shervington's, 'Dat' (PAL-5), but seems not to have survived NEMS's move to RCA. Distributed By Nems Records. Pluto Shervington, also known as Pluto (born Leighton Shervington, 13 August 1950 in Kingston, Jamaica, is a reggae musician, singer, engineer and producer. Shervington began his career in the early 1970s as a member of the showband Tomorrow's Children. In addition to his work as a singer, Shervington gained a reputation as a talented bass guitarist, and as a recording engineer. Roman Stewart Born in 1957, was the younger brother of Tinga Stewart. Roman Stewart emigrated to New York in 1976, where he stayed for the rest of his life, recording some tunes occasionally, until he passed away in January 2004 after a heart attack. Tinga Stewart Real Name: Neville Stewart, a Reggae vocalist, brother of Roman Stewart. Ernie Smith (born Glenroy Anthony Michael Archangelo Smith, May 1945, Kingston, Jamaica) is a reggae singer, with a deep baritone voice, who had his greatest success in the late 1960s and 1970s. Clancy Eccles Born 9th December 1940 in Dean Pen, St. Mary (Jamaica), Clancy Eccles was a successfull ska and reggae vocalist. He moved to Kingston in 1959, where he got discovered and signed by Coxsone Dodd. In 1961, he released his first singles. In 1965 he resigned from music business and worked as a tailor, only to come back in 1967 with self-produced hit singles. Through the 1970s, Eccles massively supported the People's National Party and played on various political happenings. He died June 30, 2005 from an apoplectic stroke.
