New Spotlight changed it’s name
twice, started as just Spotlight in the 60’s, then re-launched itself as New
Spotlight and then changed it’s name for the last time in the 70’s sometime to
Starlight. The magazine started life in April, 1963 and for a the next
four years it was a monthly publication. However, on May 24, 1967 the magazine
became a weekly publication. John Coughlan started the magazine ands was the
Managing Editor with the startup funded by the Prendergast brothers. It would be
published by The Creation Group who also published Woman's Way and started the
Sunday World in Ireland. In 1975, the company was liquidated and John bought the
rights to the magazine and it was published for another five years as Starlight
magazine.
