Independent label: Moonbeam Records was from Barrhead, Scotland, and, like Scotia a product of S.M.D. Recordings of Paisley. Moonbeam's records have proved difficult to trace, but catalogue numbers suggest that the company issued at least forty two, mainly using an MBR-100 numbering series. That said, the only ones that have been traced in that series have had even numbers, which strongly suggests that there may not have been any odd-numbered ones. The earliest single with an MBR prefix that has come to light so far was issued in 1973, while the highest number I have been able to trace, MBR-140, dates from 1976. Subsequent singles seem to have adopted an SMD-5000 series, one of several previously used by S.M.D. for Scotia singles; Moonbeam records appear to have gone back to the beginning and started at SMD-5000. The few of the company's singles titles looks as though the company concentrated on Scottish Folk / Vocal material in the main, with some Club / Cabaret material thrown into the mix.
