MAYPOLE
RECORDS
Maypole Records was a DIY label. It managed one
single. 'Friday's Child', by Lucy Vernon (MAP-100; 6/73). The label
appears to have been designed by the same person who designed the Rockfield
label, the single was a Rockfield production, and both Maypole and Rockfield
records were handled by RCA; all of which suggests a close link between the two
companies. For what it's worth, the Lucy Vernon single is a
Folk-rock-tinged song with a memorable chorus; despite its merits, however, it
never threatened the charts. Ms. Vernon had another single out, in 1977,
on the almost-equally-obscure Pebble Beach label : 'L'amour Est Mort' (PBR-3;
5/77). Distributed By RCA Records. Thanks to Robert Lyons For The
Info.
