MAQUIS
RECORDS
Independent label: Maquis Records was a DIY label. It
managed at least single. 'Kidnapped', by New Wave band The Resistance
(GAT-413), which was issued in December 1979, through Pye and Faulty
Products. It seems to be fairly readily available even thirty years
on, so it must have sold in some quantity. That single apart, there don't appear
to be any other Maquis records around. Did the numbering start at 400 or
410, or was the Resistance record a one-off? Pressing appears to have been
by CBS, to judge from the layout of the matrix number in the run-off.
There was a Belgian single by a group called Rezistance on a Maquis label
('Dance On'; MR-001); perhaps that may be of some relevance. Distributed By
Maquis Records. Thanks to Robert Lyons For The Info.
