MAINSPRING
RECORDS
Independent label: Mainspring Records was a short-lived
offshoot of music publishing company Woolfsongs. It was run by Eric
Woolfson and managing director Bob Britton, and according to Billboard magazine
of the 4th of December 1976 it was going to concentrate on singles. In the
event it only issued four of them, in late 1976 and early 1977, using an MSP-000
numbering series; none of them are commonly found, nowadays. The layout of
the label was such that perforation for dinking tended to obsure the artist's
name. Distribution was by CBS. Thanks to Robert Lyons For The
Info.
