Independent Reggae label: Lord Koos Records was active from 1973 to 1975. It was owned by Eric Scott ('Lord Koos') and operated out of premises in Harlesden, 7 Fortune Gate Road, London NW10. Lord Koos singles started out being numbered in the KOO-000s but the first '0' came and went before finally disappearing after KOO-024. Catalogue numbers suggest that there should be forty-nine singles in the series but not all the numbers seem to have been issued. To add to the complications two numbers were used twice (KOO-023 and 024) and KOO-027 and 028 appear to have been the same record with the 'B' side credited to different artists. There was also a short-lived BL-0 series, which was reserved for Bunny Lee productions; to complicate matters further there wasn't a 'BL-1 A' as such, but 'BL-1 B' was the 'B' side of KOO-29. Finally, to that you can add the fact that three KOO numbers (two of them duplicates) were used for records on the Sir Christopher label. As can be seen, the label came in a variety of colours and three designs. Numbers up to and including KOO-021 had rather spindly palm trees on them; from then to KOO-26 a plain light blue label was used. The remaining labels had healthier-looking palm trees). Lord Koos (real name Eric Scott) was a UK Sound System. The Lord Koos Sound System was established in 1964 in Harlesden, NW London and was still in operation in the early 80's. In 1980 he had a Thursday night residency at the Four Aces club in Dalston, Hackney, East London. He formed the Lord Koos Record label in 1973. Distributed By Lord Koos Records.
