Independent label: Liverpool Sound (Enterprises) Records was based in Kirkby Liverpool. It was run by Harold Collins and Eddie Hunt, and was the successor to Collins's Cam Studios. The label was intended to promote local talent. It seems that Liverpool Sound used one numbering series for all its recordings, 7" and 12" alike; it did, however, add a suffix, 'EP' for 33 1/3 rpm seven-inch records, and, in some cases at least, an 'S' for stereo records. Their catalogue numbers suggest that numbering may have started at LS-1500, around 1971; by 1975 numbers were in the LS-1800s. 1974 seems to have seen a parallel series, in the LS-1100s. How many Liverpool Sound records there were, and how many ever found their way out of Liverpool, is open to conjecture: the fact that so few turn up and makes me doubt that all the catalogue numbers were used.
