LETHAL
RECORDS
Lethal Records was a DIY label from Scotland. It
managed one single. Joe Lethal, 'Don't Come Back' (CI-200526; 1978).
Presumably it was a custom pressing, and the catalogue series belonged to
whichever firm did the pressing; I haven't seen anything else with a CI-200000
number. Joe Lethal were a Rock trio from Ayrshire. Distributed By
Lethal Records. Joe Lethal was a Scottish trio from Irvine, Ayrshire (in the
West of Scotland), formed in 1977 by Alan Aitken (gtr/v), Leo Bingham (v/b) and
Kenny Hunter (drums). Joe Lethal’s one and only vinyl release was issued in
January 1979 on the self-financed Lethal label in an edition of 1,000 copies.
Decently produced by Douglas Jarvie, the 7” sold out its limited pressing
locally and is now fairly sought-after. Joe Lethal continued to perform into the
early ’80s but were only mentioned by the music press when they joined the
Melody Maker-sponsored 'Rock & Folk Contest 1979', failing to reach the
finals. Thanks to Robert Lyons For The Info.
