KERI
RECORDS
Independent label: Keri Records would appear to have been a custom
recording concern. Catalogue numbers seem to have started around KE-780;
the first two digits may well represent the year of issue. The earliest
example of a Keri record was a various artists LP called 'Stardust
Spectacular', was numbered KE-781 and came out in or around 1978. An EP by
Buzzard (KE-791) filed under 'Prog' and also 'NWOBHM', on the grounds that
Buzzard member Chris Page went on to play with NWOBHM band Energy, but seeing
that the record contains covers of tracks by Leo Sayer ('The Show Must Go On'
and 'When I Need You'), The Hollies ('Gasoline Alley Bred') and Marmalade
('Radancer') it doesn't look too Proggy or HMish. The few Keris that I
have managed to find are listed below; if the first two digits do give the year,
and for example KE-792 was the second record made in 1979, not all the numbers
may have been used. The Stella Clarke EP (KE-793) was recorded at Beck
Studios, Wellingborough, which suggests that Keri may have been from that part
of the country. Distributed By Keri Records. Thanks to
