JAYBEE
RECORDS
Jaybee Records was a DIY label. It managed one single
. It issued singles Ben Gunn's 'Wembley 77' (JB-1; 1977). The same
single was issued on Klub in that same year (KLUB-05), which suggests that it
may have been recorded by Jaybee, picked up by the bigger company and given a
wider release. There is however a second possibility: that Jaybee was a
Northern Irish label - the (P) on the label is usually an indicator of Irish
origins - which leased the Klub recording and issued it over there.
Presumably the song celebrated the Scotland football team's victory over the
England team at Wembley that year. Gunn also recorded an anthem for the
Scotland team's 1982 World Cup venture, 'Viva Scotland' (Lismor,
LISP-2006). Distributed By Jaybee Records. Thanks to Robert Lyons For
The Info.
