Independent Reggae label: Hit Records was a label, based in Camberwell; the successor to Alvin Ranglin's GG label, which was part of the Trojan family from 1970-73. Ranglin seems to have revived GG under the expanded name of 'GG's Hit Records' in 1977, as an independent concern; the 'Hit' part was dropped during that same year, but reappeared at least once, in 1979. GG's handled its own distribution, for the most part, though it linked up with Pinnacle in 1979. A lot of its issues were 12" singles, which accounts for the gaps in the discography: 7" and 12" singles usually shared the same GG-000 numbering, though there was at least one exception in Dr. Alimantado's 'Conscious Man (7015; 1978).
