HAWK
RECORDS

Independent Reggae label: Hawk Records was owned by Raymond Morrison.  Hawk operated out of premises at 243 Finchley Road, London NW3.  There don't seem to be any dates on the labels of its records but HSP-001, 'Here I Am' by Ram & Tam, is mentioned in Billboard of the 11th of March 1978 as a new release, which gives us some information about when the label started up.  Elsewhere HSP-022, Owen Grey's 'This Is Reggae' is also said to date from in 1978, while some of the singles in between have been tentatively dated to 1979.  Catalogue numbers were in the HSP-000 or HSP-0s; they reached HSP-022, but a lot of them seem either to have not been used or to have been used for HLP-prefixed 12" singles such as Ram & Tam's 'Hawk In Flight' (HLP-002; 1978). Distributed By Hawk Records. Thanks to Robert Lyons For The Info.
