Independent label: H&L Records was an American Soul and Disco label and was formed by producer / songwriters Hugo Peretti and Luigi Creatore when they left Avco in the mid '70s.  The new company enjoyed chart success with the Stylistics on both sides of the Atlantic before Peretti and Creatore retired, in 1978.  In Britain H&L was part of the Phonogram family; its singles inherited a 6105-000 numerical series from those of Avco.  Manufacture and distribution were therefore by Phonodisc, which explains the regrettable injection moulded labels. In 1979 H&L had recently renewed its licensing deal with Phonogram, but only one single seems to have been issued after that point and the company appears not to have survived into the '80s.
