Great North Western Records was a DIY label. It managed at least one singles'Ya Gotta Get Up To Get Down' by Bacchus (GNW-001; 1979), which, as the label states, was recorded in Central Sound studios, Manchester. Was the label owned by Central Sound studios, or by the production company, Future Sound? The label design looks too professional for a DIY concern. As its title suggests, the Bacchus single was a Disco / Funk effort, complete with brass and synthesized strings. The 'B' side had most of the vocals removed; there was also a 12" version available on the Double Dancer label - presumably a reissue. Distributed By Great North Western Records.
