Independent label: Forest Records was a direct descendant of budget-priced-record specialists Avenue Records. To the casual ear there is no apparent difference between the kind of music which came out on Forest and that which came out on its ancestral label; both issued 33¹/³ rpm EPs of Easy Listening and re-recorded Pop stuff. Indeed, several Forest issues had previously seen the light of day on Avenue. Forest EPs were numbered in an EVA-2000 series - later FVA-2000 - and they seem to have all been issued in 1972. The '1971' on several of the records may refer to the year of their original appearance, on Avenue. Pressing of the few examples was by Pye, who are reported to have handled distribution until July 1972, when Avenue set up its own distribution arm. Thanks to Robert Lyons For The Info.
