FABULOUS
RECORDS
Independent label: Fabulous Records
managed six singles. It issued singles in an JC-0 numerical series.
The first of these, Young & Moody's, 'The Devil Went Down To Georgia' has a
Status Quo connection, in that Bob Young played with that band, roadied for
them, and co-wrote several of their hits; the fourth was by Punk band The Drones
('Can't See'; JC-4). Two different label designs were used: an
initial plain white one was at some point replaced by one with a bit more
interest to it. The company seems to have shifted about a bit, as far
as distribution is concerned: JC-1 was handled by Melodisc / Lugton, JC-2 by
Pinnacle, and JC-4 to 6 by Pye. That said, none of its distributors
can have suffered from overwork, as Fabulous singles aren't often seen nowadays.
The Drones were a British punk band formed in October 1976 in Manchester and
relocated to London; disbanded around 1982. The band started out in 1974 as a
Glam Rock band called Rockslide, releasing a single in October 1975. Band
line-up was M. J. Drone (Mike Howells) - vocals, guitar Gus Gangrene (Gary
Callender) - lead guitar Whispa (Steve Cundall) - bass Pete Purrfect (Peter
Howells) - drums. Phil Cordell (17 July 1947 – 31 March 2007) was a British
musician who released a number of records in the late 1960s and 1970s under
several names, most notably in the UK as Springwater and Dan the Banjo Man. He
was a multi-instrumentalist and usually played all the instruments on his
recordings. The Young & Moody Band was a UK blues rock band from the late
1970s to the early 1980s, headed by Status Quo co-writer Bob Young and
Whitesnake guitarist Micky Moody. Status Quo are an English rock band whose
music is characterized by their distinctive brand of boogie rock. The group
originated in The Spectres, founded by schoolboys Francis Rossi and Alan
Lancaster in 1962. After a number of lineup changes, the band became The Status
Quo in 1967 and Status Quo in 1969. Line-up Francis Rossi – guitar, vocals Rick
Parfitt – guitar, vocals Alan Lancaster – bass, vocals Andy Bown – keyboards,
guitar, vocals John Coghlan – drums. Thanks to Robert Lyons For The
