E.L.P
RECORDS
Independent label: from Wales. The initials E. L. P. stood
for Esme Lewis Productions. Esme Lewis recorded for the 'Welsh Teledisc'
company in the mid '60s; by the end of that decade she was running her own
label. It issued at least six records, using an ELP-100 series
for singles, EPs and LPs alike; the picture sleeve of 'Glory Glory
Glory', by Iris Williams gives the number of that particular record as ELP
SP-105 but the actual label has it as just ELP-105. The title of ELP-103,
an EP by Band Y Meillion, 'Dawnsiau'r Twmpath (Welsh Barn Dances) 2' hints that
ELP-102 may have been the first volume in that series; a third volume was
released in 1973, ELP-104 was an various artists album of folk song in
Welsh. Thanks to Robert Lyons For The Info.
