DEEP CUTS
RECORDS
Deep Cuts Records was a Punk / New Wave Record
Label. Deep Cuts was owned by Johnny Waller, and was based in
Edinburgh. It issued just two singles, both of them in 1979: The Visitors',
'Electric Heat' (DEEP-1) and The Fakes', 'Production' (DEEP-2; 9/79). The
Fakes were from Stirling and Sauchie in Scotland. Band members were: Johnny
McGuire - vocals Jamzy McDonald - bass Mairi Ross - guitar Brian Kemp - drums.
The Fakes came to the attention of Johnny Waller (RIP) who was a music
journalist for Sounds & Melody Maker and had a fanzine called Kingdom Come.
He also managed The Visitors. Johnny wanted The Fakes to make a record for his
Deep Cuts label .It was recorded at the infamous Cargo Studios in Rochdale. It
came to a tragic end on 1st November 1979, when Brian was killed in a motorbike
ccident. The band didn't want to work with another drummer so decided to call it
a day. Thanks to Robert Lyons For The Info.
