CYANAMID
RECORDS
Independent
label: Cyanamid was a company which produced
chemicals, some of which were for use in agriculture. It appears to have
sponsored the issue of a series of 'The Observer's' books and a number of EP
records, presumably as part of its advertising drive. The only record on
the Cyanamid label: was an EP entitled 'It's Bumble' by Folk group
Bumble. The record is mostly free from reference to the product that
Cyanamid was trying to promote, apart from a short throwaway track at the end
which stresses the inadvisability of letting wild oats grow. The picture
sleeve, however, is full of information about that product - which was called
'Avenge' - and about the control of wild oats, and says nothing about the tracks
on the EP; though it does show the EP's title. The date of issue was
1976. The catalogue number, SECW-1006, is one of an obscure series that may
have been used by EMI for custom pressings - see the 'EMI Custom Pressing' page
for a little more information. Thanks to Robert Lyons
