CMS
RECORDS
Independent custom
recording concern from Deal, in Kent. The CMS recording studios are still
in operation today (2008), but the few of their records seems to date from the
late '70s and early '80s. As is always the way with custom pressing firms,
their products are hard to trace, which makes it difficult to make any positive
statements about what numerical systems were used or the span of years that the
label covered. Suffice to say that as far as singles are concerned
there appears to have been a CRS-00 series, which had reached CRS-06, Jane
Fyffe's 'Jubilee Waltz 77', by 1977. EPs were numbered in the MR-00s;
while Trevor Shaw's 1982 LP 'Wheels In Motion' had a catalogue number of
MRPR-26. It looks as though the various formats shared a common set
of numbers but used different prefixes. Thanks
to Robert Lyons For The Info.
