Independent American Label from Chicago. Chi-Sound was launched by Carl Davis in 1975 when Brunswick Records got tangled up in legal matters, he had been the manager of that company.  Initially the label was handled by United Artists in the USA; it moved to 20th Century in 1979, gaining a new logo in the process. Musically speaking, it concentrated on Soul and Disco until it closed down, which it did in 1983.  As far as Britain is concerned, Chi-Sound only ever appeared in its 20th Century form, and sporadically at that, from 1979-81; distribution was by RCA.  Prior to that date the company's products came out on the United Artists label over here.  British Chi-Sound singles shared a TC-2000 catalogue series with those of 20th Century. Thanks to Robert Lyons For The Info.
