CHEBEL
RECORDS
Chebel Records was a DIY label. Chebel's only
release was an early affirmation of gay sexuality, and was produced by the
Campaign for Homosexual Equality, Manchester, in 1975. The tracks on it,
'Glad To Be Gay', 'Gay Switchboard Jingle', 'Schizophrenia' and 'Stand Together'
were by Tom, Rose & Annie in various combinations. 'Tom' was Tom
Robinson, but 'Glad To Be Gay' is reportedly a different song to the anthemic
'Sing If You're Glad To Be Gay' which appeared on EMI (EMI-2749) a few years
later. The catalogue number of the EP was SRT/CUS-015, which indicates an
SRT custom recording. Thanks to Robert Lyons For The Info.
